Identify the source board and circuit, available ways, proposed cable runs and areas affected by a shutdown.

Protective devices, fixed wiring, earthing and the local isolator must suit the equipment and future maintenance access.
- 04What power does the equipment require?
Use the actual model, equipment label, starting method, control voltage and manufacturer information to confirm the works.
- 05How will the controls and BMS connect?
State who wires, configures and tests each enable, run, fault, schedule, sensor and interlock point.

Fixed electrical work should be assigned
to the right registered people
If the project includes installation, alteration, testing or certification of a fixed electrical installation, check the Registered Electrical Contractor and the grade and permitted work of the people responsible for the actual scope.
Show the included work and items needing separate assessment
List HVAC, fixed electrical work, controls, BMS, fire interfaces, reinstatement and landlord systems separately so you can compare quotations.
Confirm shutdowns, approvals and access
Agree the isolation window, property requirements, approvals and any other building or statutory requirements before work starts.

The affected fixed installation must be inspected and tested, with applicable work-completion certification such as WR1 or WR1(A).

Does every HVAC project need electrical alterations?
Electrical alterations are determined by the existing supply, equipment duty, circuit, protection, isolator and controls. If the existing arrangement is suitable, the quotation should say what will remain in place.
Can we request a quotation without a single-line diagram or load information?
Yes. Start with site, equipment and distribution-board photos. Some items need a site survey before they can be confirmed, and sufficient information will still be required before work starts.
How is fixed electrical work shown in an HVAC quotation?
The quotation should state the scope for fixed wiring, boards, protection, isolation, controls wiring, testing, certification and reinstatement.
Can the work be carried out after hours or in phases?
Raise the requirement before quotation. Site permission, affected services, isolation approval, safety arrangements and the restart plan must be confirmed before the available work period is agreed.
What should we do after a trip or unexpected equipment stop?
